Perfection-itus
Dear Tony,
I’m getting ready for my first Ms. Fitness show. I am 20 years old, 5-foot-2 and presently weigh 102 pounds. I’ve been weight training for more than a year and my physique shows it. I’m not real big, but I’m defined. I’ve got a "four-pack" of abs, but by the contest the rest should come in.
Everything seems to be on target, until I turn around and look back in the mirror. I can pinch a half-inch of fat on the side of my lower back, just above my waist line. I train my back hard, and my obliques, what else can I do? My friends tell me I look fine and that I should just chill, that I’m being too picky. But when I look at the pictures in the magazines I never see this fat, and it bugs the heck out of me!

Emotional Eater
Dear Tony,
I know what my problem is: I’m an emotional eater. Like some people hit the bottle, I hit the refrigerator. Cheese cake does wonders to lift my spirits when work gets to be a bummer, and chocolate truffles have eased the pain of getting dumped, or ditching out of a relationship. It seems there is always some reason to binge on sweets and ice cream. To make up for this I don’t eat a lot during the day. Sometimes I even skip a meal or two to make up for the calories. But the weight keeps creeping on.
I’ve listened to enough talk shows to know my problem, but I’m somehow missing the solutions. You’ve dealt with and helped so many millions of people that I’m hoping you’ll have the advice that hits home. I am 24 and have gained 25 pounds since my high school days when I weighed about 120 at 5’6.

Temptation Islands
Dear Tony,
I've been using your Target 2000 tapes and have lost about eight pounds. I'm taking a two-week cruise to the Caribbean in two months, and hope to melt off another seven or eight pounds before I leave. In addition to your high-energy workouts, I've also changed my diet. No more pizza and beer for me! I've cut out all the chips, sodas and cookies as well.
Now, here's my problem: I'm afraid that I will undo everything I've done in those two weeks on the cruise ship. I've never been on one, but I hear that there is food everywhere you turn! I'm almost ready to cancel. Any advice as to how I can stay on my diet while on the high seas?

Settle an Argument
Dear Tony:
My friend and I had a debate the other day over what was the better way to treat a pulled shoulder muscle. He said you should put heat on it. I said you should put ice on it. Who is right?
